What does decentralization bring

 
 

Center for Civic Initiative- Prilep and the NGO OHO from Skopje on 01.06.2004, at the big hall of the Local Government in Prilep, organized the first of the ten realized tribunes, held in different cities in Macedonia. The topic of this tribune was “What Does Decentralization Bring”. There was a discussion about the changes that will be caused by Local Government reform, the opportunities for local economic development and citizens’ inclusion in decision-making process.

The following persons took part on the tribune:

Igor Tasevski - Center for Civic Initiative - moderator;

Prof. PhD. Ljupco Pecijareski - Professor at Economy faculty in Prilep;

MA Ivica Boceski - Institute for Democracy, Solidarity and Civil Society;

Eli Cakar - Ministry of Local Government;

Natasa Vrteska - Association of Units of Local Government in Republic of Macedonia.

After the discussion of tribune participants, the citizens of Prilep municipality who attended the tribune, the President of Council of Prilep Municipality  Mr. Boris Risteski and the Mayor of Prilep, Mr. Saso Piganoski also discussed the issue.

This tribune according to Mr. Saso Pirganoski, the Mayor of Prilep is the most massively attended and with most discussions. It was attended by a lot of Councilors in the Council of Prilep Municipality, representatives of Mayor’s Open Office, Local Units of Ministries, about 80 citizens from Prilep municipality, representatives of NGOs in Prilep municipality and representatives of printed and electronic media. The tribune arouse interest, which is confirmed by the people who attended it, but also by the attention paid by local media in their programs.
