The activities of this project were oriented towards the youth in Prilep and Krivogashtani, so as to raise their conscience about the dangers of the human trafficking. Students from the “Mirce Acev” gymnasium I Prilep, students from the primary school “Manchu Matak” in Krivogashtani as well as their teachers and parents were part of the project. The project aimed at emphasizing the importance of the youth participation in the process of prevention from human trafficking as well as at raising the youth and their parents’ conscience about the existence of this global problem in our country. The forums attended by the parents in Prilep and Krivogashtani were organized with the aim of making the existence of the problem well known to the public and taking actions to prevent it. The students and the school clubs took part in this project. The students prepared handouts – fliers and stickers and distributed them; organized theatrical shows which were attended by great number of people. Namely, the children used their own imagination and talent to create the stickers and scenario for the theatrical shows. The theatrical show reached its goal – raising the youth and their parents’ conscience about the danger of becoming victim of human trafficking as well as raising the level of caution while communicating with strangers and accepting different insecure offers. The Media while monitoring the activities gave the project and the children their support.
Mrs. Elena Grozdanova from the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy being an expert for the issue related to the prevention of human trafficking was actively involved in the project activities especially in the organized forum. The participants in the forum were members of the NGO that work on this issue, representatives of the Local Government in Prilep, Krivogashtani, and Dolneni, the parents of the children studying in the high school sin Prilep, and representatives of the Department for prevention from human trafficking, MIA of Prilep. The public forum reached its goal – opening active discussion among the present over the great importance of the prevention from human trafficking as well as transferring experiences related to the youth participation in the fight against human trafficking.
The project was realized in the period from 01.12.2008 – 15.05.2009 funded by the Australian Embassy in Belgrade.
