With this project we provided help to Macedonian citizens who were outside the Macedonian borders and had been returned (deported). Actually, we provided assistance for returnees in many spheres, for their easier and faster adaptation in everyday life and life's responsibilities. Activities were directed in several spheres:
Connection with local Firms/Companies from Prilep in order to assist the returnee, according to his/her experience with a few months job provided by the employee of the Firm/Company. This was an attempt to provide reintegration to the returnee in terms of adaptation towards the current economical situation in Prilep as so as an attempt to increase the self-estimation of the returnee and a chance for better integration in the local community.
Assistance for starting up business, self-employment. This was one of the most interesting and most important segments. Namely, this assistance provided registration of firms, additional education, creation of business plan and procurement of basic means for work. This provided basis for self-employment of the returnees in their own business and possibility for employment of close relatives of returnees.
It was established communication with educative centers (Workers Universities) in order to include the returnees in vocational trainings. The types of trainings were determined according to the returnee readiness and pre-knowledge to attend a vocational training. Those trainings help them to accomplish their skills and to acquire new ones.
This influenced the reintegration process of the returnee and contributes towards his/her adaptation in the local community.
Actually, with this project and its activities, we provided assistance for returnees for adaptation in the old-new surroundings and creation of working conditions for their existence.
The period of project realization was from 01.11.2003 to 31.10.2005. Coordinator of the project at national level was IOM and CCI was project implementer in Prilep. The project was funded by the European commission.
