With the aim of reducing the potential of illegal migration and human trafficking, especially at young Roma population aging 18 – 36, Center for Civic Initiative in cooperation with the Workers University – Prilep took activities for providing vocational courses for developing of individual skills of young Roma and possibility for their future employment.
The implementation of the activities was in 3 phases:
1. Preparation phase that was identification and selection of the beneficiaries. A questionnaire for assessing the needs was answered by 56 Roma. The final selection of the candidates for attending the vocational courses was done by the representatives from CCI, IOM, Workers University and Local Self government from Prilep. 19 Roma were selected to benefit the vocational training.
2. The implementation in essence was providing of specially adapted training for professional preparing and developing of skills at selected beneficiaries. Specially adapted training was in few phases:
- Implementation of professional courses (hairdressers, nursing course, cosmetics course, skilled craftsman, Plummer course, tailor course) aiming at professional orientation of the selected Roma and the possibility of their employment according the received qualification
- providing of business courses aiming at enabling of selected Roma for creation of their own business
- given the possibility for completing the primary education and getting diploma for finished primary education
- providing computer course
3. Informative campaign aiming at prevention of illegal migration and human trafficking. For this purpose in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy was prepared Brochure for prevention of human trafficking, which was distributed in Roma population in Prilep and Bitola, aiming at awareness rising of the Roma population for prevention of illegal migration and human trafficking
Trough this project CCI enabled the assistance of one group of 19 young people so they can be active members of the community in which they leave in, and with the possibility for their future existence.
The project was realized in the period between 15.04.2006 – 15.06.2007 and was financed by IOM.
