CCI has worked on projects connected to the elections as an important segment of the democratic society. CCI was one of the three coalition NGOs that worked on the project “Practice Democracy” coordinated by the National Democratic Institute in the period July-September 1998. This project had educational and motivational character. The aim was to increase the turnout, and at the same time to inform voters about the type of elections and the way of voting. These aims were accomplished by media campaigns i.e., TV spot, public lectures, distribution of brochures and flyers and a bus caravan. The propaganda materials and the TV sport were produced in Macedonian and Albanian language and the radio spot in 6 languages. The project was estimated as very successful.
The same year CCI was one of the fifteen NGOs that participated in the monitoring, and CCI was a regional center and coordinator for Central Macedonia. The monitoring was sponsored by the Dutch Embassy in Macedonia.
The following year, during the Presidential Elections in 1999 CCI continued the tradition and it was a coordinator of the 3 NGOs that participated in the election monitoring. This time the sponsor was the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Macedonia.
In August-September 2000 CCI once more carried out an educational campaign for the local elections. For that purpose there were produced brochures and flyers with educational contents and a TV spot. There were also held public lectures and demonstration of the voting procedure in the towns of Prilep and Veles with the neighboring areas. ISC and USAID funded the project. ISC also financed the project "My vote, my future" which was realized before the parliamentary elections 2002. It was an educative and motivating project. The goal of this project was to explain the new election model and the new law for elections, as well as to motivate the population to cast their vote massively. The working methods were TV spot, posters, leaflets, brochures and public lectures.
