Starting in may 2006 Center for Civic Initiative become a Secretariat of Civil platform of Macedonia. A two years mandate enabled CCI to coordinate the communication between members of the platform and to encourage the effective promotion and work of the platform. Civic platform of Macedonia (CPM) is an open place for reflection, democratic discussion of ideas, formulation of suggestions, free exchange of experiences and mutual connection for efficient action of the civic organizations that are dedicated on building of civil society in Macedonia. The aim is to establish the civic sector as equal partner in the society for achieving positive society changes, regarding the establishing of participative democracy and society and responsible business sector.
The program of Civic platform of Macedonia aims at strengthening of the role of the civic sector trough changed and challenged environment, increasing its influence and contribution in the changes of the society, democracy and responsible governing.
The program refers to:
- Improved communication
- Coordination and cooperation between the civic organizations
- Development of regulations and mechanisms of the civic organizations
- Improvement of the legal and fiscal contracts for civic organizations
- Improvement of the cooperation between the civic organizations with the government, business sector, media and the public.
Target group are the participants in the civic society in Macedonia.
- Direct users are 36 civic organizations members of the Civic platform of Macedonia and the other organizations in Macedonia.
The program includes participative approach based on exchange of information, capacity building, and advocacy and lobbing.
The communication, coordination and cooperation between civic organizations can be achieved trough exchange of information provided by the Secretariat of CPM, analysis of the local regional and international experiences, the best practice specific capacity building and opened debates on forums, regional fairs and at national NGO fairs.
Within the Program that was financed by the European Agency for Reconstruction EAR, CCI prepared a Manual for Finance Management and Administration of Civic Organizations in Macedonia and 2 data base for the Macedonian civic sector. Data base for volunteers and data base for researches that are assessable on web site of CPM. (www.gpm.net.mk )
