Community Partnership

This project aimed at transferring experiences. It was implemented in two phases and in two countries, firstly in  Ukraine (05-09 April 2004) and afterwards in Macedonia ( August 30, 2004-Septeber 03,2004)

The realization of the 1st phase:

The project Community partnership was in realization of a Ukrainian NGO Dobrochyn Center. It was funded within the East East Program – Open Society Institute - Kiev. The project foresaw implementation of one phase – a transfer of experience to Macedonian partner - Center for Civic Initiative.

A team of our organization made a study visit in Ukraine from 04-08.04 2004.

It is important to point out that the visit was very important and useful for the fact that some models that are in function within the Local Government - Ukraine can be useful for the functioning of the Local Government in Macedonia. The experiences gained are especially important for putting the new Law on Local Government in Macedonia into practice.

The experiences will also contribute to participatory democracy development in Macedonia – via the examples of the Neighborhood Unit models.

        The 2nd phase realization:

The second phase foresaw a training program for two different target groups: Center for Civic Initiative staff (two – day training on ISO standards), and representatives from NGOs, Neighborhood Units and Local Government (three - day training on collaboration development and transfer of experiences).

Guest from Ukraine, transferred their experiences in Prilep from August 30, 2004-Septeber 03,2004.

The actual plan for the realization of the second phase came as a result from the first phase realization. The plan was developed after all relevant information was gained from the study visit. It was identified as a need to provide two kinds of trainings: one to be provided for CCI staff and the second to be provided for organizations of different feature: NGOs, Neighborhood Units and Local Government. The reason for establishment of such plan was/is to put in practice what was seen in Priluki and Slawutich as a positive and practical model of work.

This actually was a partner project with the Center for Social Welfare “Dobrochyn” – Chernighiv – Ukraine,  funded by East East Program – Foundation Open Society Institute Macedonia-Skopje
