AIESIC Simposium

 
 

This was a symposium organized by AIESEC - the biggest students’ organization in the world, which was held at Assembly of Bitola Municipality on May 13th 2004.

Apart from students from Macedonia (from Skopje, Bitola, Prilep and Ohrid,, it was also attended by students from Serbia and Montenegro, Romania and Bulgaria. On the symposium took part: Goce Todoroski -the Executive Director of Center for Civic Initiative, Jessica Cook - AID TO ARTISANS, Sheila Thompson - European Union’s representative in Republic of Macedonia and Michael from MSI (Tourism Development Program funded by USAID).

The symposium was divided in two parts.

The first part was a lecturing on entrepreneurship and social responsibility. The goal of lecturers in this part was to provide a clear image of what entrepreneurship and social responsibility mean.

Edison Dos Santos - Vice President of AIESEC in Macedonia opened the meeting and exposed his experiences on topic social responsibility and directions in which young people should take after they completed their education.

Jessica Cook explained more about the social responsibility in the area of business corporations.

Sheila Thompson, one of EU representatives in Republic of Macedonia exposed a part of her experiences on media’s social responsibility through examples from her work so far.

Michael Crown from MSI (Tourism Development Program funded by USAID) talked about the social responsibility in tourism, particularly emphasizing the need for its faster development in Republic of Macedonia.

Goce Todoroski from Center for Civic Initiative talked about social responsibility within NGO sector expressed by implementation of projects by Center for Civic Initiative.

The goal of this symposium was to start the National Learning Network officially and to increase the understanding on entrepreneurship and social responsibility and to act as a bridge among different organizations in order they to share experiences.

The second part of this symposium was a fair of different project implemented by various organizations from Macedonia including AIESEC.

Namely, one of the goals of this symposium was to build a platform to share experiences and gained knowledge on in the area of entrepreneurship and social responsibility.
