Regional initiative to combat Trafficking in Humans in Macedonia, Albania and Montenegro

 
 

 

          From the beginning of 2007 CCI continued working on the protection of the human rights in the part of prevention of human trafficking.

The implementation of this project is aiming of giving contribution towards realization of the National Action Plan for prevention of human trafficking and illegal migration in Republic of Macedonia.

         Our aim in the frames of this project was to give contribution towards one organized and structured approach for the measures against human trafficking:

  • Capacity building on focus groups
  • NGO oriented towards human rights and social workers
  • Capacity building of the border police from Macedonia, Albania and Montenegro aiming at increasing the international group of the  border police for effective combat against human trafficking

         Continuing the process of capacity building of the social workers and the NGO sector, in this project our work was pointed at social workers from Tetovo and Debar, cities that are close to the borders with risk for starting of human trafficking in Macedonia, which is a transit point for the trafficking, but also we have big number of human trafficking inside the country.     

        On the trainings participated 12 social workers and 30 NGO activists from Tetovo and Debar, where were presented the basic forms of prevention of human trafficking and was underlined the importance for active cooperation between the NGO sector and the Centers for Social Work.

        Aiming at reducing human trafficking, CCI in its activities included international group of 9 border police officers from Macedonia, Albania and Montenegro. The activities that were realized were for informing and introducing the basic forms of human trafficking and knowing of the basic methods for recognizing of human trafficking on the borders.   

The National Conference for prevention of human trafficking confirmed the effort of CCI in combating human trafficking and also intensives the cooperation with the National commission for prevention of human trafficking, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy of Republic of Macedonia, national and international NGOs working on prevention of human trafficking.    

       Realization of the activities of this project contributed towards awareness rising about the combat against human trafficking, and with that the contribution towards reducing and resolving of the human trafficking that can be achieved only trough active and joint cooperation of the government institutions and the NGOs, as with including of the media as important connection of the chain for combat against this problem.  

       The project was realized in the period from 01.01.2007 – 31.12.2007 and is financed by ifa Project Zivik, Federal Foreign Office and Institute for Foreign culture Relation, Germany
